Views

This is a view overlooking the New Old South Church. The little windows provide sun to the second level. This is the balcony overlooking the Public Library and Copley Square.
This is looking from Trinity Church over to the site with the New Old South Church in the background.
The Boston Public Library to the left with the site across the street.

Stacey,
Some comments:
- why is building slightly lower than the adjacent building? Is there a good reason for it? It creates an akward step down that calls a lot of attention to it.
- the close up views lack the detail that engages the people you inserted: the facade has no depth and no indication of mullions, etc, there are no railings (very irritating at the upper levels), there is no indication what the materiality is. Overall the people you show are in a cardboard box, but not a building.
- use shadow do indicate depth
- the view across Dartmouth shows only very little of your building. There is no indication what the landscaping in the courtyard is. The location of the windows is odd - they seem very low.
- overall the model is still stuck at a diagrammatic level.

Stacey,

I really want to see some plans or something beside the sketchup model! It seems to be keeping you at a diagrammatic phase. Even turning the shadows on in sketchup would start to give some more depth to your model. I am sure the overhang at the entrance would create some interesting shadows as well as your small windows. Maybe show more context of the surrounding site just by extruding some basic shape outlines of the buildings just so it reads like it is in the middle of the city. I wonder if that might affect the height of the building as well. Good luck this week and I can't wait to see your final images.
